PGGMB organises Umrah guidance briefing for 300 pilgrims

Some 300 prospective Umrah pilgrims attended a briefing on Sunday organised by the Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) to enhance knowledge and deepen understanding of the Umrah pilgrimage.

The pilgrims will be performing the religious journey under the management of PGGMB Travel Service Sdn Bhd. The event was held at the PGGMB School Hall in Kampong Sungai Akar.

President of PGGMB Haji Abdul Alim bin Haji Othman, along with members of the PGGMB Supreme Committee were present at the briefing.

The first group of pilgrims is scheduled to depart on October 24, with subsequent groups set to travel throughout December.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by welcoming remarks from Haji Abdul Alim. A special lecture was then delivered by Ustaz Haji Sammali bin Haji Adam, an officer from the Ministry of Education’s Counseling Unit. In his briefing, Ustaz Haji Sammali provided guidance on managing and navigating the Umrah pilgrimage, offering advice and preparation tips to help ensure a smooth and organised journey for the pilgrims.

The briefing also included presentations from the appointed Umrah package operators who will manage and guide the pilgrims in the Holy Land. It is hoped that the guidance shared will be beneficial for all pilgrims before and during their Umrah journey. The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat.

In addressing attendees, Haji Abdul Alim revealed that PGGMB is now in its 85th year and, as part of its future plans leading to its 100th anniversary, the association is considering several initiatives, including the construction of a PGGMB Wakaf Mosque.
