The Royal Brunei Armed Forces Veterans Association (PERWIRA) held its 2024 Service Awards Ceremony on Saturday evening at Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong, in a celebration of outstanding service and contributions by its members.
The event aimed to express gratitude for the commitment shown by PERWIRA members in achieving the association’s objectives, whether through official activities or community initiatives at the branch, national, and international levels. It also served to foster unity, cooperation, and a positive culture within the association.
Distinguished guests included PERWIRA advisers Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit bin Pengiran Datu Penghulu Pengiran Haji Apong, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Mohammad bin Haji Daud, and Pehin Dato Padukaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Shari bin Ahmad.
Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, and numerous veteran officers and rank-and-file members also attended the event.
The evening commenced with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a welcoming speech from the President of PERWIRA Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Ramli bin Haji Abdul Hadis.
Highlights of the ceremony included the presentation of the prestigious VECONAC award, poetry recitals by PW (1) Haji Aminuddin bin Haji Abdul Karim, and musical performances. A notable performance featured a duet by Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Perkasa Colonel (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Mahdini bin Dato Paduka Haji Basir and SSgt (Rtd) Pengiran Mariam binti Pengiran Othman.
The event concluded with a dinner, where members and guests enjoyed a convivial atmosphere, reflecting on the contributions of veterans to national service and community welfare.
