The Magistrate’s Court handed a nine-month jail sentence to a Nepalese man for peeping at a woman inside a toilet.
Raju Chaudary, on duty as a contract cleaner, peeked under a cubicle door while a female visitor was inside.
The incident occurred at RIPAS Hospital between 11pm and 2am on September 15 and 16 last year. The victim, a hospital visitor, reported that the defendant peeked under the cubicle door while she was inside.
Magistrate Nur Eleana binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Hairol Arni found the prosecution’s evidence convincing, despite the defendant’s denial.
In her testimony, the victim stated she saw the defendant’s shadow approaching the cubicle and then saw him peeking under the door for a few seconds.
She shouted, causing him to flee. Her husband confronted the defendant, leading to police involvement.
The defendant claimed he was not involved, suggesting the victim mistook a floor mop for him and claimed he was following procedures.
The court found no evidence of ill intent from the victim and ruled against the defendant. – Fadley Faisal
