Thousands of people attended Pasar Rakyat 2024 at the premises of the Indonesian Embassy in Brunei Darussalam yesterday.
The two-day event was held to commemorate the 79th anniversary of Indonesian independence.
Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Dr Achmad Ubaedillah said, “Pasar Rakyat has become an event awaited by the Indonesian diaspora in Brunei to socialise with friends and relatives.”
The event saw 50 booths from micro, small and medium enterprises owned by Indonesian nationals in the Sultanate selling Indonesian products from food and drinks to crafts and fabrics, as well as service booths offering money transfers, logistics and travel tickets to Indonesia, and education services including BRI and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.
The Indonesian community in the Sultanate also performed traditional songs and dances, as well as folk music, popular songs and dangdut performances. – Lyna Mohamad
