Brunei Darussalam para swimmer Mohd Danial Hakim Harjimmey did the country proud by bagging five gold medals at the Para Swimming Circuit Malaysia at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The nation’s sole representative swam to gold in the 100-metre (m) freestyle multi class S7-S8 combined, 50m backstroke multi class S7-S8 combined and 50m butterfly multi class S7-S8 combined.
He capped off a dominant display in the pool with two more gold medals in the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle events.
It was double joy for the para swimmer star after breaking national records in the 50m backstroke with a time of 47.83 seconds and the 50m breaststroke event with a time of 54.84s.
The event served as preparations for the swimmer ahead of the Para Swimming World Series in Singapore later this year.
The competition, which concludes today, is jointly organised by the Malaysia Para Swimming Association (PREPMA) and the National Sports Council of Malaysia (MSN). – Fadhil Yunus
