The SMS Prihatin for Orphans Fund was officially launched for 2024, and from now until December 5, the public can contribute towards aiding the less fortunate.

A ceremony hosted by the Community Development Department (JAPEM) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) in collaboration with Radio Television Brunei (RTB), Datastream Digital Sdn Bhd (DST), Progresif Sdn Bhd and imagine Sdn Bhd was held at the MCYS building yesterday.

The public interested in making a donation can do so through the short message service (SMS) by typing ‘YATIM’ without any spaces followed with the amount to be donated, which are 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 50 or 100, and sending the text to 38111 for DST and Progresif subscribers and 39999 for Imagine subscribers.

The Fund has been an annual project since it started in 2005 to serve as a platform to facilitate the public in channelling their contributions to registered orphans in the country. – Lyna Mohamad
