Five hundred and fifty-nine orphans registered under the Community Development Department received donations at the Seri Kenangan Hall of Tutong District Civic Complex recently.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 220 and its translation, followed by the presentation of donations.
Acting Tutong District Officer Mohammad Sofian bin Haji Basri, the guest of honour, presented the donations, which were contributed by the National Orphans Fund, Tutong District Orphans Fund, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam and Nazmi Textile Mall.
The event also feted three orphans, who excelled in Religious Primary Schools Education Certificate (SSSRU), Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level and IGCSE ‘O’ Level examinations in Cluster 5, Tutong District. – James Kon
