Some 1,405 kilogrammes of waste disposal was collected during the Ministry of Home Affairs Memucang-Mucang Kitani programme at Danau Beach in Kampong Danau, Tutong District yesterday.
The programme was held in collaboration with Mukim Telisai Consultative Council (MPM Telisai) and Kampong Danau Consultative Council (MPK Danau).
The programme is also under the purview of the Main Committee on Cleanliness Issues for the implementation of the Coastal Marvel National Coastal Clean-up Campaign to raise public awareness about cleanliness on coastal areas, particularly plastic waste.
Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman attended the event as the guest of honour.
Among the activities and collaborations in the pipeline for the campaign are clean-ups at Muslim cemeteries, providing assistance in house repairs and aiding the underprivileged. – Rokiah Mahmud
