Officers head to Singapore for work placement

Nine officers from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Government left the Sultanate for Singapore for a public service development programme.

The officials are from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Development, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).

The programme is an outcome of the 8th Young Leaders’ Programme (YLP) held last year in Singapore from August 3 to 5. It was strengthened through a memorandum of understanding on the Cooperation in Public Service Capacity Development signed between both governments in Singapore on August 24, 2022.

The year-long programme was aimed at giving exemplary officers to improve their competency and contribute to the development and performance of their agencies and Bruneian public service as a whole.

It also facilitates idea exchange, sharing best practices and professional networking while strengthening ties between both countries.

Assistant Director of Family, Women and Children Division at Community Development Department at the MCYS Siti Zaharah binti Haji Abdul Razak said she has prepared policy papers and was ready to learn from the one-year placement.

She also pledged to learn as much as she could to contribute to develop and help local family, women and children matters.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was present at the Brunei International Airport to see the delegation off.

Deputy Minister (Civil Service Governance) at the PMO Dato Seri Paduka Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Permanent Secretary (Civil Service Governance) at the PMO Ajman bin Haji Meludin and Acting Director-General of Public Service Dr Norfarizal bin Othman were also present.
