Travellers on Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) flights will enjoy an enhanced in-flight experience following the launch of two new services – RB SkyShop and RB SkySavour – at an exclusive event for Royal Skies Elite Members yesterday at a hotel in Kampong Jerudong.
Minister of Development and RB Chairman Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid was the guest of honour.
The introduction of the new services aims to elevate the in-flight experience as the national carrier celebrates its 50th anniversary on November 18.
RB Chief Executive Officer Captain Sabirin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, in his welcoming remarks, highlighted the airline’s commitment to enhancing its service offerings amidst growing demand.
“With the current challenges in the travel industry, we are committed to continuously innovating our services to enhance our offerings and provide added value to our savvy guests,” he said.
In line with RB50 celebrations, Captain Sabirin expressed appreciation for five decades of service and dedication. “Our values of sincerity, care and commitment define us, guiding our service philosophy, ‘Ikhlas From The Heart’, as we move forward into the next decade,” he added.
RB SkySavour, the new pre-select meal service, allows Business Class guests to choose their meals ahead of their flight, ensuring their preferred dish is ready upon boarding. “We believe every journey should be personalised, which we’re delivering with RB SkySavour,” he said. SkySavour is now available on select long-haul routes, including flights from Brunei to Jeddah, Dubai, Melbourne and Tokyo.
He added that by January 2025, the personalised dining experience would be offered across the Business Class network, with expansion to Economy Class planned by July 2025.
“RB SkySavour embodies our commitment to sustainability. By enabling meal pre-selection, we can reduce food waste, aligning with Brunei Vision 2035.”
The RB SkyShop service, meanwhile, offers an in-flight duty-free shopping experience with a selection of luxury products from fragrances to accessories.
Passengers may browse the RB SkyShop catalogue during their flight or pre-order items to collect onboard.
Partnering with King Power Traveler, RB also offers the convenience of home delivery purchases through its website. In collaboration with King Power Traveler, a Hong Kong-based company, RB aims to expand its in-flight duty-free services and offer duty-paid home delivery, enhancing the shopping experience both on and off the plane. – James Kon
