New partnership enhances maritime safety

Poni Marine entered into an exclusive Commercial Representation Agreement with Orion Maritime Systems (OMS) to introduce OMS’s cutting-edge products, technology, and software for Aids to Navigation (AtoN) and Safety of Navigation to Brunei Darussalam.

The strategic partnership marks a significant advancement in the region’s maritime safety and navigation technology.

The partnership was showcased during the recent Brunei Darussalam Maritime Week (BDMW), organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam (MPABD).

Both OMS and Poni Marine presented their latest innovations to Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, clients and MPABD officials.

OMS Managing Director Jonathan Tung and OMS lead engineer Brian Wong delivered a presentation on Remote Monitoring and Digital Technology for Aids to Navigation (AtoN) and Marine Lanterns, highlighting the transformative potential of IoT-enabled systems with Satellite, AIS, GSM and Bluetooth connectivity, which enable the management and maintenance of AtoNs and marine lanterns wirelessly.

The remote monitoring software, which is a key feature of OMS’s solutions, includes automated alerts for any impacts or collisions with AtoNs, complete with impact-activated CCTV recordings.

“This partnership with OMS underscores our dedication to bringing world-class solutions to Brunei,” said Poni Marine Chief Executive Officer Mohd Tahsin Wong Abdullah.
