The 2026 World Cup finals venue

NEW YORK (AP) – The anticipation for the 2026 World Cup has reached new heights as FIFA announced MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, as the grand stage for the tournament’s final showdown on July 19.

In an event held at a Miami television studio, FIFA revealed its plans for the 39-day extravaganza spread across three North American nations. The opener is set to take place at Mexico City’s iconic Estadio Azteca on June 11, with the climactic final hosted by the NFL’s New York Jets and Giants at MetLife Stadium.

“It will be a celebration of our diversity and our values,” expressed New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy in a telephone interview. “The bigger picture is what leads up to it and what we leave behind for the decades to come.”

While Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones vied for the final to be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the decision in favour of MetLife Stadium has added a unique flavour to the international event.
