Maju Motors Sdn Bhd, the authorised distributor for BYD, the world’s leading New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, launched the BYD Dolphin 2024 at its first roadshow at The Mall, Gadong yesterday.
A versatile and affordable electric hatchback, the BYD Dolphin 2024 has quickly garnered attention as one of the most competitively priced electric vehicles (EVs) in the market. The first five units are available at a special promotional price.
The launch ceremony was officiated by Maju Motors Managing Director Chan Key Hong, alongside BIBD At-Tamwil Berhad Managing Director Haji Mohammad Said bin Haji Zania and Head of Sales Division at Baiduri Finance Haji Muhammad Ali bin BM Haji Metussin.
Chan Key Hong described the launch as a milestone for BYD in Brunei. “Today marks another significant milestone as we introduce the BYD Dolphin in Brunei Darussalam. Our commitment to innovation and sustainability is reflected in this exceptional vehicle, which combines cutting-edge technology with unparalleled performance. We are excited to bring a new era of electric mobility to Brunei and look forward to contributing to a greener future for this beautiful nation,” he said.
He also announced plans to launch three new BYD models in Brunei next year: the BYD Shark, BYD Sealion 7 and BYD Seal 5 DM-i.
At the event, Chan Key Hong also unveiled the BYD app, a smart platform that allows BYD owners to monitor their vehicle’s battery and fuel levels, lock and unlock the car, turn the air conditioning on or off and track the vehicle’s location using a mobile phone. The BYD Dolphin is powered by a 44.9 kWh Blade Battery, delivering a WLTP range of up to 410 kilometres. Its single electric motor generates 94 hp and 180 Nm of torque, enabling a top speed of 130 kilometres per hour (km/h) and acceleration from 0-50km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
Sleek, clean and futuristic, the Dolphin’s aerodynamic design combines smooth curves with a distinct grille, reflecting innovation and elegance. Its minimalist yet sophisticated interior offers a user-friendly interface with high-quality materials and advanced technology.
Safety remains a priority, with the Dolphin equipped with six airbags, ISOFIX anchors, a panoramic camera, tyre pressure monitoring, vehicle stability systems, traction control, and hill start assist. Additional features include keyless entry and an advanced anti-theft
