More sculptures at Damuan park

Four more sculptures will soon be added to the current six at the Damuan Recreational Park.

The project at ASEAN Trail, which has been renamed ASEAN Walk, was launched by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad at the park yesterday.

The project is a continuation of the 1986 ASEAN Arch initiative, which featured sculptures from the six ASEAN member states at the time.

The four additional sculptures – from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam – will make the Sultanate the first country in the region to have a complete set of ASEAN arches.

Meanwhile, the minister led a walk along the path at the park as part of the ASEAN Walk Project, to raise awareness on ASEAN and encouraging volunteerism.

It also highlighted achievements through cooperation and contributions by ASEAN member states.

The projects were among the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community’s deliverables during Brunei’s chairmanship of ASEAN in 2021. – Adib Noor
