MoFE officers, staff receive long service medals

Thirty-eight officers and staff from the Ministry of Finance and Economy including the Office of His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight received Long Service Medals (PKL) yesterday in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 77th birthday celebration.

The medals were presented at the Royal Customs and Excise Department’s (RCED) Pengiran Lela Cheteria Hall.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah was the guest of honour. He was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid and Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal) Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani.

The ceremony was held as an appreciation for the officers and staff serving the ministry for more than 20 years.

Chief supervisor from the Office of His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight Husaini bin Dato Paduka Haji Basir was among the recipients. He said, “I have been working with the Office of His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight for 26 years and I feel blessed and honoured to receive the PKL today.

“I hope my achievement today can motivate other officers who will be in my position in the future. There are always challenges in any kind of work. We need to be patient and overcome any obstacles.”

He conveyed his gratitude to His Majesty for the recognition of loyal service and sending him overseas for courses to develop his skills.

Faridah binti Haji Abdul Hamid from RCED said, “Alhamdulillah, I am really happy to receive the PKL today. I also received Pingat Indah Kerja Baik (PIKB) last month. I would like to convey my appreciation to His Majesty for recognising my hard work.”

Faridah, who has been working with the government for 22 years, said, “Whatever our entrusted responsibilities are, it is important to maintain integrity. With integrity, we can avoid being involved in bad or negative elements. The task that we were given is a form of trust, therefore we must carry out our duties to the best of our abilities. There is always a solution to any problem that arises.” – James Kon
