The Ministry of Development (MoD) was allocated a budget of BND345,953,286 for the 2024-2025 financial year during the 20th session of the Legislative Council (LegCo) meeting yesterday.
Minister of Development Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid said that BND119,666,190 will be used for emolument, BND102,466,740 for recurring expenditure and BND123,820,356 to fund projects under the 12th National Development Plan.
The allocated budget will focus on good governance and compliance in managing assets and projects as well as in providing services to the public. These efforts are in line with this year’s theme ‘Building a Prosperous Future Together’.
The minister also shared that the MoD has seen an increase of BND121,963.53 in revenue collection with BND54,199,357.59 collected in the third quarter of the 2023-2024 financial year compared to BND54,077,394.06 in the previous third quarter.
Meanwhile, measures carried out through the Debt Recovery Unit under the Housing Development Department and Special Committee to address debt and revenue collection under the Land Department include: the provision of online payment services through the One Common Billing System and e-payment gateway with the 1MOD-Integrated MOD Platform and Land System project currently in the pipeline to unify all MoD services for easier management and collection of revenue; enabling payment acceptance through the National Retirement Scheme (SPK) withdrawal and payments through banking institutions via personal loans; and allowing land tax and housing payments to be accepted at every Land Department and Housing Development Department counter in each district. – Rokiah Mahmud
