Ministry holds religious event for PKBN trainees

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), through the National Service Section (BKBN), organised a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for the 12th intake of the National Service Programme (PKBN) at the theatre hall of PKBN Training Camp in Kampong Batu Apoi, Temburong District yesterday.

Some 457 PKBN trainees, comprised 309 male and 148 female, participated in the ceremony. Twelve non-Muslim trainees were also present.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad attended as the guest of honour.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the minister, followed by trainee Muhammad Zulhelmi Hashim bin Jainudin leading the recitation of Khatam Al-Quran and Takhtim, while trainee Muhammad Hazmaan Kamal bin Haji Brahim led the recitation of Doa Khatam.

Meanwhile, Assistant Religious Officers and Spiritual of the PKBN led the Dikir Marhaban and concluded with trainee Mohammad Danial Hazwan bin Mohammad Azmi 3 leading the recitation of Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam.

The event proceeded with the minister presenting certificates to male trainees while Permanent Secretary (Community) at the MCYS Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, to the female trainees.

The ceremony aimed to lay a foundation for PKBN trainees to strengthen their spiritual characteristics, faith and piety ahead of their training at the camp. – Rokiah Mahmud
