Some 6,614 dates as kurnia peribadi (personal gifts) of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam were distributed to officers and staff of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) in a ceremony at the ministry’s Citra Budaya Hall yesterday.
Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the MCYS Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan presented the dates.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by i-Ready officer at the Youth Development Centre Abdul Muazzam Azri bin Zulkifli.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) distributed kurnia peribadi dates at a ceremony in the VIP room of the ministry’s building.
Permanent Secretary at the MPRT Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab presented the dates to heads of departments and sections at the ministry for further distribution.
In Kampong Lumut II, residents received kurnia peribadi dates on March 6.
Kampong Lumut II Village Head Haji Khairdon bin Haji Dahlan, accompanied by village consultative council members oversaw the distribution of 1,440 boxes of dates via a drive-through at the Liang Lumut Recreational Club (LLRC).
In the Belait District, 30,996 boxes of dates were distributed to residents through penghulu and village heads. – James Kon, Lyna Mohamad & Daniel Lim
