Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman accompanied by his wife Datin Hajah Nahriah binti Haji Awang Asbi handed over korban meat to asnaf families in the Belait District yesterday. Organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) annually in celebration of Hari Raya Aidiladha, the ceremony saw the participation of 85 representatives from asnaf families at Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in Belait.
Legislative Council member and Village Head of Kampong Bukit Sawat Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann, Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad, penghulu mukim, village heads, and representatives from government agencies and departments in Belait also participated.
The minister and the guests sacrificed a buffalo during the ceremony, with a total of four buffaloes and a lamb being sacrificed for the occasion. – Daniel Lim
Ministry of Finance and Economy
Ninety underprivileged individuals received sacrificial meat at the Ministry of Finance and Economy’s korban ceremony at its premises recently.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah was among those present.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew along with Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid distributed the sacrificial meat.

Ministry of Education
The Ministry of Education (MoE), through the Department of Planning and Estate Management and the Department of Private Education held a korban ceremony at Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre (PTES), Kampong Mulaut recently.
Seven buffaloes were sacrificed at the event joined by 49 officials and staff from the ministry.
The 60 recipients of korban meat were students from PTES, Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School and Masin Secondary School.
Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh was among those present.
The event continued with a religious talk on ‘Sacrifice Rituals Strengthen Piety’ by education officer at the Spiritual Activities Division, Department of Co-Curriculum Education Haji Sammali bin Haji Adam, followed by the handover of the sacrificial meat to the afdal recipients and participants.
This was followed by a mass recitation of Selawat Ibrahimiyah led by PTES students and concluded with a Doa Selamat. – Azlan Othman
Ministry of Health
The Ministry of Health recently held a korban ceremony, organised by the Administration and Finance Department, Laboratory Services, Health Services Department as well as Project Development & Estate Management Department at the ministry.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar and spouse Datin Dr Hajah Noraslinah binti Haji Ramlee were among those present.
Five buffaloes were slaughtered and the meat distributed to nearly 80 recipients comprising staff at the ministry, including daily paid staff. – Azlan Othman
Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism
The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) recently held a korban ceremony at the Setia Pahlawan Hall, MPRT building, organised by the Tourism Development Department.
Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin distributed the korban meat.
The meat was distributed to 80 recipients comprising staff of the ministry and 20 asnaf registered under the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB). – Izah Azahari
Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) recently hosted its korban ceremony at the ministry’s premises, joined by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad.
Seven buffaloes were sacrificed and 250 individuals including recipients from the Community Development Department (JAPEM), orphans and MCYS personnel received the sacrificial meat. – James Kon
