Language courses can bridge two countries by establishing the beginning of long-term cooperation with depth and breadth, said Turkish Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Professor Dr Hamit Ersoy during a certificate presentation ceremony for 11 local military officials who completed a Turkish language course.
The ambassador said language courses lay a firm foundation for further exchange and cooperation between Brunei and Turkiye. He said higher level of cooperation between the two countries will lead to more advanced Turkish language courses.
The language course for the 11 military officials was organised by the Ministry of Defence and the Turkish Embassy in Brunei Darussalam. The certificate presentation ceremony was held at the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF).
Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan and the Turkish ambassador presented the certificates.
The event concluded with participants mingling and enjoying local and Turkish delicacies.
The course was the second organised for local civil servants, following the first one held for the Prime Minister’s Office.
The course was facilitated by Yunus Emre Institute (YEE) which coordinated several activities with several institutions including storytelling activities, film screenings and Turkish cuisine cooking shows broadcast on Radio Television Brunei.
Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center Coordinator for Brunei Darussalam Lale Ersoy said the activities and collaborations are meaningful to YEE as it showed growing interest at government institutions.
