    Milestone in aviation history

    Bruneian airline start-up GallopAir and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) signed a letter of intent (LOI) at the 20th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) marking a milestone in the history of aviation.

    The LOI was signed in the presence of leaders and dignitaries, including key figures from China’s political and business spheres and Brunei’s government officials.

    Secretary of the Party Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Liu Ning and Party Secretary and COMAC Chairman He Dong Feng, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Zhou Yi Du, Deputy General Manager of China Commercial Aircraft Company Ltd Shen Bo and Commercial Counselor of the Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy to Brunei Darussalam Shi Rong Ke were present at the signing ceremony on behalf of the Chinese side.

    Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary (Infrastructure, Housing and Professional) at the Ministry of Development Ir Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Zakaria, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to China Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Pahlawan Colonel (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Abdu’r Rahmani bin Dato Paduka Haji Basir, Director of the Brunei Economic Development Board Daniel Leong and GallopAir Chairman Yang Qiang witnessed the signing.

    Representing GallopAir was Chief Executive Officer Cham Chi and COMAC Deputy Director of Marketing and Sales Committee Yang Yang signed the LOI, signalling a shared vision to revolutionise air travel, foster economic development and enhance regional connectivity.

    The LOI includes GallopAir’s intention to purchase 30 aircraft, comprising 15 ARJ21 aircraft, three of which are freighters, one ARJ21 business jet, one ARJ21 medical plane and 15 C919 aircraft worth USD2 billion.
