The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department has advised the public to take precautionary action against heavy showers and gusty conditions expected today.
The department said that the weather over the weekend is expected to have occasional heavy and thundery showers. Wind speeds may reach up to 45 kilometres per hour around areas of heavy rains.
“This is due to the presence of a low pressure system over our region, resulting in unstable and moist atmospheric conditions favourable for the development of rain clouds and windy conditions, especially during the crossing of heavy showers over the country,” said the department.
Sea conditions are expected to be at a moderate state, with a wave height of 0.6 to 1.2 metres, said the department.
The department cautioned against falling trees as well as risk of flash floods, especially at low-lying or flood prone areas as well as areas near river banks.
The public, road users and fishermen are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast and advisories.
