KUALA LUMPUR (XINHUA) – Malaysia’s wholesale and retail trade recorded sales value of MYR142.4 billion (USD30.4 billion), an increase of 5.4 per cent year-on-year in January, official data showed yesterday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a note that for monthly comparison, sales value fell 1.1 per cent as compared to December 2023.
According to the DOSM, the yearly increase was driven by wholesale trade sub-sector, which rose 5.5 per cent to register MYR63.7 billion.
Motor vehicles sales expanded 16 per cent to MYR17.6 billion, while retail trade grew 2.6 per cent to settle at MYR61.1 billion.
