    Malaysia’s inflation rises 1.8 per cent in November

    KUALA LUMPUR (XINHUA) – Malaysia’s inflation rose 1.8 per cent in November year on year with the index points standing at 133.3, official data showed yesterday.

    The increase of inflation in November was driven by a slower growth in the main groups of health (1.2 per cent) and transport (0.4 per cent), the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.

    Meanwhile, inflation for food and beverages, which contributes 29.8 per cent of the total consumer price index (CPI) weight, increased at a higher rate of 2.6 per cent.

    The overall monthly inflation for November decreased 0.1 per cent as against October. This is the first decline since August 2021.

    Meanwhile, core inflation increased at the same rate at 1.8 per cent in November as compared to October.
