Brunei’s Ministry of Health on Monday issued a statement that disseminated information with regards to neighbouring Malaysia’s COVID-19 situation to be false.
The information made viral on audio and text claimed a spike in case infections making the Limbang district in the Yellow Zone.
Brunei’s health ministry adviced members of the public to follow Malaysia’s Ministry of Health social media accounts to get the latest information.
In Brunei Darussalam, persons spreading false information can be charged under Section 34, Chapter 148 of the Public Order Act, carrying three years’ jail and a BND3,000 in penalties. – FADLEY FAISAL
