Malaysian man charged with molestation, trespassing

A 33-year-old Malaysian man pleaded not guilty in court yesterday to charges of outraging the modesty of a woman and criminal trespassing.

Chai Chun Liang was charged with two offences allegedly committed on August 30, in Kampong Kiulap.

The charges allege that at around 8.30am, Chai used criminal force against the victim inside an elevator with the intention to outrage her modesty.

The charge carries a penalty of up to five years’ imprisonment and whipping.

In addition to the first charge, Chai faces a second charge of criminal trespass.

It is alleged that at around 9am on the same day, Chai entered an office in Kampong Kiulap with the intent to annoy the same victim.

The charge carries a penalty of a year’s imprisonment and a fine.

Magistrate Nur Eleana binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Hairol Arni scheduled the next mention for September 24 to set trial dates. – Fadley Faisal
