PETALING JAYA (ANN/THE STAR) – In a heartwarming gesture, former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad made an unexpected visit to the home of Faisal Halim, the Selangor winger recovering from a harrowing acid attack.
Faisal Halim, who suffered serious injuries from the attack, shared the news on his Instagram page on Saturday, expressing his gratitude and surprise at the visit from the esteemed former premier.
“I never expected this great man to visit me. Thank you, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, for spending time with me and my loved ones,” Halim wrote.
“Insyallah, I will stay strong and work hard to return to the game one day. Thank you for always praying.”
The acid attack, which occurred at a shopping mall in Damansara on May 5, has been a matter of public concern.
Tun Dr Mahathir, addressing the incident previously, urged swift action from the authorities to apprehend the perpetrator.
“An acid attack on an athlete is unprecedented. We need to find the culprit and take immediate action because this should not happen in sports,” he said.
