Local university joins Selangor MIB programme

A delegation of 24 students along with four lecturers and officers from the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) is participating in the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) International Tarbiyyah Service from March 2-8 in Selangor, Malaysia.

Selangor Chief Minister Dato Seri Aminudin bin Shari officiated the programme on March 2 with Brunei Darussalam High Commissioner to Malaysia Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mahmud bin Haji Saidin @ Haji Md Saidin as special guest.

The programme, organised by the Student Affairs Section in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Science Education through Nadi-al Qawi-al Amin, aims to foster ties between KUPU SB and the Muslim community in Selangor and promote Brunei as a Zikir Nation. It also aims to expose students to the MIB concept in education, leadership, organisational and cultural management as well as encourage community service and teamwork.

Among the activities were the foster family programme; Qiamullail prayer; Subuh prayer and religious lecture; demonstration of Bruneian and Javanese cuisines; a forum on Islamic affairs; motivational workshops; recreational activities; and visits to Muallaf Da’wah Center, Tahfiz Sungai Besar, Sultan Idris Education University, rice mill, biscuit factory and chocolate manufacturing plant. – Rokiah Mahmud
