    Local swimmers break records

    Local swimmers shattered records at the 7th Brunei Open and Masters and 7-9 Years Old Swimming Championships, held at the International School Brunei swimming pool from November 17-19, organised by Brunei Darussalam Swimming Association (BDSA).

    Zeke Chan from the Mabohai Swim Club recorded times of 52.05 seconds (s) in the 100 metres (m) freestyle; 4:08.06s in the 400m freestyle; 57.23s in the 100m backstroke; 2:05.03s in the 200m backstroke; and 2:10.22s in the 200m individual medley.

    Hayley Wong from the Dolphin Swimming Club saw times of 27.26s in the 50m Freestyle; 59.93s in the 100m freestyle; 4:49.78s in the 400m freestyle; 33.46s in the 50m breaststroke; 28.78s in the 50m butterfly; 1:07.03s in the 100m individual medley; and 2:28.86s in the 200m individual medley.

    Meanwhile, Joel Ling from the Brunei Speed Swimming Club recorded times of 4:12.20s in the 400m freestyle; 27.22s in the 50m backstroke: 2:07.16s in the 200m backstroke: and 2:10.43s in the 200m individual medley.

    The event also saw 82-year-old Paul Yong demonstrating ageless enthusiasm, competing in the 25m butterfly and embodying the spirit of lifelong dedication to the sport.
