Students Muhammad Asrul Kamal bin Shahrun from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali and Nur Izzati Nazatul Aqilah binti Junaidi from Universiti Teknologi Brunei were selected to represent Brunei Darussalam at the 4th Global Forum for Youth Leaders on Drug Use Prevention.
The five-day forum will take place starting tomorrow until June 28 in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Both students were selected through the nomination from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Department of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education. The students are accompanied by NCB officer Eve Sulrianah binti Sulaiman.
NCB Acting Director Zainal Adi bin Haji Ajmain was present at the Brunei International Airport yesterday to see the delegation off.
Nur Izzati Nazatul Aqilah expressed hope to return to Brunei with knowledge gained from the forum and apply it here. This is her third time participating in an international forum, although her first two were conducted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, it is Muhammad Asrul Kamal’s first participation in a youth event abroad. He hopes to gain knowledge and network with participants from around the world. He also aims to contribute by making a positive impact on the youth in Brunei upon his return. – Lyna Mohamad
