Deputy Medical Superintendent and Consultant Ophthalmologist under the Ministry of Health (MoH) Pengiran Dr Noor Affizan binti Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman has been listed as Brunei’s ‘Leading Lights’ for the ‘Kindness and Leadership 50 Leading Lights’ Asia-Pacific.

Recognising the contribution of kind leaders to business, the economy and society as well as building a legacy one light at a time, the campaign showcases 50 leaders building a new status quo, impacting others through kindness.

According to the Kindness and Leadership 50 Leading Lights testimonial on listing Pengiran Dr Noor Affizan as one of the candidates in 2022, “Pengiran Dr Noor Affizan is a consummate professional in all her duties, who has managed to help lead her organisation to survive the pandemic, bringing unity among people while promoting empathy to colleagues, patients and family members in a high-pressure and intense environment. She demonstrated her leadership with compassion and kindness for her employees by prioritising their health and welfare first. She also provides an inclusive working environment where people feel a sense of belonging and a respect for each other and opinions are heard.” Speaking on the latest list of candidates, Kindness and Leadership 50 Leading Lights CBE DL Founder Pinky Lilani said, “We are delighted to announce 50 Leading Lights, across both the United Kingdom and Asia-Pacific regions. These leaders are driving transformative change within their businesses, communities and on a global scale, making a remarkable impact by harnessing the power of kindness in their leadership.

“We have been blown away by the nominations we have received and it is clear that even in the toughest times, kindness is the currency that empowers, enabling individuals to reach their full potential and, ultimately, reflecting in business success, too.”

Members of the judging panel comprise Chair of the panel British High Commissioner to Australia Vicki Treadell; IHS Markit Former Partner and Senior Vice President in Asia-Pacific Account Management team Bo Zhou; Piramal Industries Vice Chairman Dr Swati Piramal; Dole Packaged Foods Global Chief Marketing Officer Rupen Desai and Blackrock Real Assets Managing Director Hugh Andrew Fris.

In 2021, Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar was listed as one of the 50 Leading Lights across both the UK and the Asia-Pacific region, by the UK and Asia-Pacific Kindness and Leadership 50 Leading Lights.
