    Local man, companies fined for illegal rubbish dumping

    A local man, Muhammad Nur Izz Waldan bin Haji Mohd Noor Irwan, was fined BND100 for violation of the Miscellaneous Act (Chapter 30) by the Licensing and Enforcement Division, Brunei-Muara District Office during an operation conducted at the Lambak Kanan Community Hall parking lot last Tuesday, March 4.

    Meanwhile in a separate operation, four companies were also found to have violated the same act and were issued with a compound after these four companies were caught in the act of dumping rubbish illegally.

    One company was fined BND2,000 on March 6, and another was issued with a fine of BND1,000 on March 8.

    Yesterday, two companies were also found to have disposed of rubbish illegally and were also issued with compounds.

    A workshop was issued with a fine of BND1,000 while a company was given a BND500 fine.

    All the companies and individual have been given seven days to settle the fines and failure to do so will lead them to be prosecuted under Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Act where if found guilty, the penalty is not more than BND9,000 for individual or not more than BND30,000 for companies or imprisonment of 12 months or both.
