The Ministry of Health’s Department of Scientific Services through its Forensic Science Division marked a milestone after achieving ISO/IEC 17015:2017 accreditation in forensic testing from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) National Accreditation Board (ANAB) recently.
The Department of Scientific Services underwent assessment from February 28 to March 2 and the accreditation is proof that the laboratories have the ability to provide quality forensic testing that can be trusted by law enforcement and other stakeholders. It also shows that the officers and staff have the expertise and competency.
The four laboratories under the Forensic Science Division with the accreditation are: the Forensic Biology Section, the Illicit Drugs Section, the Physical Evidence Section and the Toxicology Section.
