Prosecutor Kamal Ariffin bin Ismail yesterday framed charges against a 43-year-old local of assaulting a police officer and committing mischief.

Magistrate Qamarul Affyian bin Abdul Rahman has set the case for further mention on September 4 to fix trial dates after Mohd Nazree bin Mohd Salleh pleaded not guilty to both charges.

The first charge accuses Mohd Nazree of voluntarily causing hurt to a police officer of the Royal Brunei Police Force stationed at Bandar Seri Begawan Police Station.

The incident allegedly occurred on August 17 at about 3.42pm at the garage of a house located at Kampong Sungai Belukut, Jalan Kota Batu.

According to the charge, the defendant, while reversing his vehicle, trapped the police officer inspector between the vehicle’s open front left passenger door and the garage wall.
