An individual was slapped with a compound fine of BND500 from the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) on August 13 for improper trash disposal.
The individual was discovered to have disposed of trash from a stationary vehicle onto an open field located at Kampong Katok.
The department imposed the fine under Chapter 12(1) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021, giving the individual seven days to settle the fine. Failure to do so will result in the case being brought to court.
If found guilty in court, a fine ranging from BND1,000 to BND3,000 will be issued for the first offence. Subsequent offences may result in a fine between BND3,000 and BND9,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both. – DANIEL LIM
