Litterbug fined, act caught on CCTV

An individual was recently fined BND300 by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) for littering near Lumut Beach on March 13.

The act was caught on CCTV camera where the individual was seen disposing of trash from a vehicle onto a public area. The individual was given seven days to settle the fine. The failure to do so will result in a court case.

If found guilty, a fine between BND1,000 and BND3,000 will be levied for the first offence; and a fine between BND3,000 and BND9,000 and imprisonment of up to six months, or both, for subsequent offences. – Daniel Lim
