ANN/THE STAR – On Tuesday, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that a small aircraft had crashed in Kampong Tok Muda, Kapar, Klang, Malaysia.
Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, the assistant director, stated that they received a distress call regarding the incident at 1:56 pm on Tuesday. Teams from the Kapar fire and rescue station were swiftly dispatched to the crash site.
“Upon arriving at the scene, it was found that an aircraft had indeed crashed.
“There are ongoing efforts to locate the victims,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Earlier, Bernama had reported that Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan had confirmed the incident.
According to a witness, the light aircraft crash was “sudden and loud… then silence”
Jinaidi Nasiran, aged 55, who was near the crash site, mentioned that he was repairing his car at home when the incident happened around 2 pm on Tuesday.
“I heard the sound of engines (getting) closer and closer… when I turned around, it (the aircraft) crashed to the ground.
“Then, silence…” he told reporters near the crash site.
Jinaidi said he rushed to the scene and saw that several villagers were already there.
When he reached the plane, he noticed that half the fuselage was in the ground, he added.
The aircraft was seen to be on fire before it crashed.
The road to the crash site has since been cordoned off by the authorities, with police seen setting up a tent in the compound of a nearby house.
