The Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Department hosted an awareness talk on Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021 at two primary schools to instil the importance of cleanliness and the responsibility of maintaining a clean environment.
The participating schools were Kampong Mata-Mata Religious School and Pulaie Religious School.
The talk by officers from the Enforcement and Control Division of the BSB Municipal Department aimed to instil the concept of cleanliness in Islam while emphasising patriotism in maintaining cleanliness as a shared responsibility across all levels of the community. It also aimed to educate the public, particularly children as young as seven, on their role in upholding cleanliness through proper education and best practices.
The initiative also sought to nurture a generation that values cleanliness, responsibility and discipline in preserving the country’s environment.
The programme aligns with the efforts to cultivate a culture of cleanliness from an early age through interactive activities such as discipline training and a cleanliness-themed quiz.
The department said such initiatives will further support the ‘Brunei Bersih’ mission and have a positive impact on the community, particularly the students. – James Kon
