The Program Jati Diri (PJD) Cohort 7 concluded with an inspiring message from guest of honour, Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Chong Chin Yee, who emphasised the importance of character building, resilience and discipline in the programme, calling it a “pivotal initiative” that equips young people with essential skills and fosters mental strength, teamwork and leadership qualities.
Speaking at the National Service Programme (PKBN) Training Camp, the LegCo member stressed the need for integrity, vision and responsibility among young people to drive positive change. She also urged parents and guardians to continue supporting the trainees, emphasising the significant impact of family motivation on their success.
A video presentation showcased the trainees’ growth in national identity, entrepreneurship, discipline, and community service, demonstrating their commitment to the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) philosophy.
The PJD is a collaborative effort between the Manpower Planning Office, Job Centre Brunei, Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) and the National Service Department. Cohort 7 comprised 50 iSkill students from IBTE and 10 PKBN alumni, who underwent 90 days of training to enhance their employability skills and prepare them for industry roles.
Director of Job Centre Brunei Hajah Noraini binti Haji Mohd Jamudin highlighted PJD’s commitment to bridging the skills gap and preparing participants for industry. With 772 participants across seven cohorts, PJD has successfully equipped young people with the skills and mindset.
Following their training, the trainees will embark on industrial placements at Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to further solidify their skills and values.
