    Laurel emerged winner of MTB challenge

    Malaysia renowned road racing cyclist Laurel Lauridsen Adrian emerged winner in the men’s open category of the Kaka MTB Challenge 2023 after clocking a time of 58:53,30 at the Berakas Forest Reserve Recreational Park yesterday.

    Brunei’s experienced cyclists Md Nurjamri bin Johari and Muhd I’maadi bin Abdul Aziz completed the podium with silver and bronze, respectively.

    Md Nurjamri posted a time of 1:03:56,15 while his compatriot Muhd I’maadi recorded a time of 1:04:08,34.The top three riders in the men’s open are the same as in the men’s masters ‘A’ category.

    Lee Yong Hui won the men’s master ‘B’ category after posting a time of 37:40,01, followed by Mazran bin Haji Mohd Jamin in second place with a time of 38:20,18.

    Mohammad Radzi Tamat settled for third place with a time of 39:19,15.

    Meanwhile in the women’s open category, Noorfahellnie Nordin clinched top place with a time of 33:52,26. Noorhasniti binti Juin took the runners-up spot with a time of 36:37,92, with Christina Fah taking third with a time of 48:27,66.

    The event was jointly organised by Kaka Cycling Club and MPJ Cycling Club in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 77th birthday celebration. – Fadhil Yunus
