Labour laws discussed during session with foreign workers

The High Commission of Bangladesh held a training session focused on workers’ rights at the Indian Association of Belait in Seria on Wednesday.

The training session, held in collaboration with the Labour Department, saw more than 80 Bangladeshi nationals attend, along with representatives from various companies in Belait.

High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Brunei Darussalam Nahida Rahman Shumona said the session was an opportunity for the Labour Department and Bangladeshi workers to interact and clear up misconceptions about the country’s labour regulations.

“The high commission wants further assistance from the Department of Labour to conduct similar training in other districts.

“We are also grateful to the concerned company management who sent their employees to join the training session,”she said.

Among the topics discussed during the training session were the Employment Order 2009, minimum wage, procedures to file complaints, remedies and other issues relevant for employees. – Rokiah Mahmud
