Karate champions, Olympic gold medallist Kiyuna Ryo and Asian Games gold medallist Uekusa Ayumi from Japan demonstrated skills to local practitioners at a workshop at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium Multipurpose Hall.
Kiyuna is a four-time gold medalist in the men’s kata event at the World Karate Championships and a two-time gold medalist in the men’s team kata event, while Uekusa won gold medals at the World Karate Federation’s 2016 World Championships, 2017 and 2022 Asian Championships, and at the 2018 Asian Games.
She also claimed several bronze and silver medals at the World Championships, Asian Championships, and Asian Games throughout her career.
