Abdul Fa’iz Ariffin bin Haji Awang Mohamad received the majority of votes from Kampong Pandan ‘C’ residents to take on the role as the new village head during the vote counting at the multi-purpose hall of Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Secondary School yesterday.
The voting began with the e-Undi PMKK app on November 29 and physical in-person voting yesterday.
The position was contested by two candidates, 30-year-old Abdul Fa’iz Ariffin, a BDTVEC National Diploma in Business and Finance graduate, and currently acting as the village head of Kampong Pandan ‘C’ that alternates every month with the other candidate.
The other candidate, 38-year-old Muhammad Nurfaisal bin Ismail works as a freelancer at Radio Television Brunei as well as acting village head of Kampong Pandan ‘C’ every other month.
Among the 168 votes that were cast, 103 votes were in favour of Abdul Fa’iz Ariffin while Muhammad Nurfaisal received 64 votes. One vote was invalid. The results will be submitted to the Board of Appointments, Discipline and Procedures for Mukim Penghulu and Village Heads at the MoHA to be processed.
The vote count was supervised by Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amir Azman bin Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Setia Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Rahman.
He was accompanied by Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman, and Mohammad Haazeq bin Arsad from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA). – Daniel Lim
