The Kampong Menunggol Village Council, in collaboration with Nakhoda Abdul Rashid Primary School, Menunggol, hosted a fun sports event last Sunday at the school’s field, bringing together villagers from Kampong Menunggol and nearby areas.
The event, aimed at fostering community ties and promoting a healthy lifestyle, was attended by Education Officer from the Schools Department, Ministry of Education, Awang Haji Mohammad Suazmie bin Haji Zulkifli, who served as the guest of honour and presented prizes to the winners. Also present was the Penghulu of Mukim Kota Batu, Awang Rasli bin Taram.
Villagers of all ages participated in activities such as a husband-and-wife balloon race, a coconut throw challenge for senior citizens, a ketupat weaving race, bottle fishing for children, and a green bean transfer game using chopsticks.
The highlight of the event was the Left Right Front Back Challenge, which tested participants’ ability to follow instructions quickly.
Head of Kampong Menunggol, Haji Ibrahim bin Haji Osman, announced that the Kampong Menunggol Village Council has planned various activities to commemorate Islamic and national holidays. He also emphasised that the event supports the country’s aim to encourage physical and mental well-being among its people.
The sports event succeeded in bringing the community together, strengthening bonds, and promoting a spirit of cooperation and healthy living. – Lyna Mohammad
