The Community Development Department (JAPEM) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports released a statement yesterday informing the public that a message and video that went viral was false and that it was not been issued by the department.
The message, circulating through TikTok via @brunei_info, was about a monthly welfare assistance of BND500 via https://bantuan-kerajaan-brunei-h3.aplay8.my.id.
The agency advised members of public to be scrupulous when obtaining information beyond the department’s official website and social media accounts. The public is also warned against producing or spreading fake news and false information. – James Kon
