The first Azuma Sushi branch in the Sultanate located at Times Square Shopping Centre was officially unveiled yesterday by Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam Suda Atsushi as the guest of honour and Executive Chef Wong.
In an interview, Executive Chef Wong shared, ”We understand that there is a growing appetite for Japanese cuisine in Brunei Darussalam and we are hoping to explore the opportunity and potential of introducing our quality and fresh Japanese cuisine and food to the people in this country.”
With over 100 food items on the menu, he said, “We are offering quality and freshly made Japanese food to cater to the local taste. We have tested our food many times and felt that the enhanced taste is suitable for locals.”
He said the halal-certified ingredients are imported from Japan, Singapore and Norway.
Wong has been in Brunei to train and mentor Chef Hooi for several months. Chef Hooi will eventually become the head chef of Azuma Sushi branch in Brunei.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the guest of honour toured the premises. The mascot, Miss Azuma Sushi, also made a special appearance at the event.
Azuma Sushi branch can accommodate up to more than 100 persons and offers two private rooms.
The restaurant is open from 11am to 10pm daily except Friday where the restaurant is closed from noon to 2.30pm for Friday prayer.
