Indonesian delegation establishes educational cooperation, visits attractions in Sultanate

A delegation comprising the principal, teachers, staff and students from Bawamai Pontianak Elementary School, Indonesia, made a goodwill visit to the Sultanate to further strengthen friendship and cooperation in the field of education.

The visit from July 6 to 8 included a meeting with Chairman of the Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) Haji Jamal bin Haji Kahar and Deputy President Haji Badar bin Haji Ali, where a discussion was carried out on efforts to make advancement at the two schools. The delegation also met the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Indonesian Embassy in Brunei Darussalam Irwan Iding who welcomed and applauded the delegation’s efforts to strengthen educational cooperation.

“I noticed that there have been several mutual visits by teachers from the two countries. This indicates that there has been extensive educational cooperation between the two nations. More importantly, I truly hope that these trips would be beneficial to the Indonesian education as a whole,” said Irwan Iding. Bawamai Elementary School Principal Hatta Abdul Haji also reiterated similar expectation, stating that their visit to Brunei aimed to provide insights and experiences that would have a positive impact on schools and students in Indonesia.

The group also visited the PGGMB School in Kampong Sungai Akar to take a closer look at its academic environment as well as teaching and learning system, Istana Nurul Iman, Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Omar ‘Ali Saifuddin Mosque and the Royal Regalia. – Lyna Mohamad
