I would like to highlight the ongoing roadworks near the Bandar Seri Begawan Fire Station which have caused severe traffic congestion for several days.
Many road users are frustrated as the road remains partially closed even when no workers are seen on site. This has led to unnecessary delays, making people late for work and school.
Unfortunately, this issue is not new and has occurred multiple times in key areas, including roads near schools and major work routes.
These prolonged roadworks not only cause inconvenience but also lead to lost productivity and financial losses. There should be a better Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for roadworks on main roads to minimise disruption.
One possible solution is implementing shift-based work to expedite completion. Authorities should also set clear deadlines and ensure workers are actively engaged during designated hours.
I urge the authorities to review and improve current procedures to prevent similar issues in the future.
