An Iban family of three embraced the Islamic faith in a conversion ceremony at a residence at the RPN Kampong Panaga, Seria yesterday.
The ceremony was witnessed by Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) Acting Assistant Director Ruslan bin Haji Sulaiman, along with PDI staff, friends and family.
The ceremony saw the head of the family, 69-year-old Malina anak Segai embracing the Islamic faith and chose Muhammad Adanan bin Segai as his Islamic name.
His wife, 69-year-old Rani anak Mujap adopted Nura’ni binti Mujap as her new name; while his granddaughter of pair, 16-year-old Evy Diana anak Bakri also embraced the Islamic faith and adopted her new name of Nur Evy Diana binti Bakri.
To commemorate the occasion, the converts were presented gifts as well as sprinkling of scented oil accompanied by the recitation of Dikir Marhaban.
Acting Head of the Dakwah Development Division at the PDI Pengiran Haji Jufri bin Pengiran Haji Hidup was also present.
According to the statistics released by the Belait District Dakwah Unit, 42 individuals have embraced Islam starting this year. – Daniel Lim
