Members and youths from the PERTIWI association recently demonstrated their household skills during the Rumah Tangga Competition, held last Saturday at the Municipal Hall in Kuala Belait.
Organised annually by the PERTIWI association, the competition aims to provide a platform for participants to showcase essential household skills in caring for their homes and families. According to the association’s chairperson, Fatimah binti Tanji, the event celebrates the 78th birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
“There are five categories in which participants can submit their entries, encompassing over 40 unique household skills,” Fatimah explained. “These skills range from cake and kuih making to flower arrangement and cloth weaving, providing participants with opportunities to express their creativity and ingenuity.”
The guest of honour, Nur Khadijah binti Haji Abu Bakar, wife of the Acting Belait District Officer, attended the event to witness the various entries and present prizes to the winners at the end of the competition. – DANIEL LIM
